49er sailors Dan Slater and Nathan Handley notched up another three straight wins today to add to the three wins from yesterday. Similarly in the Tornado fleet Aaron McIntosh and Mark Kennedy had another clean sweep. Second places were shared between John Clinton / Andy Robertson (who badly injured his foot in a violent capsize yesterday but had recovered enough to sail today), and Nigel Williams / Jeremy Stephenson with the latter lying second overall.

In the 470 fleet current World Champions and Halberg Award nominees Simon Cooke and Peter Nicholas recovered from a slow start yesterday to score three wins. Christchurch brothers Stephen and Philip Keen currently lie in second place overall scoring three seconds today. Sitting behind them in third place are Andrew Brown and Jamie Hunt, followed by Shelley Hesson and Linda Dickson who are coming first in the women's division. However the results in the 470 class are subject to two protests lodged after racing which involve all the top sailors.

In the men's Mistral class, Jon-Paul Tobin finished the day with varying results, a last place finish in one race was off-set by two firsts which puts him ahead of James Wells in the men's division. Barbara Kendall still leads the women despite being beaten in the first race of the day by Julie Worth who is sitting in third place overall. Sheena McKinnon currently holds second, with a slim margin separating these three leading into the third day of the regatta.

Sarah Macky has a strangle hold on the Europe fleet continuing her winning form which saw her take three bullets yesterday, she scored a (1,1,2) in today's racing, this is despite Sharron Ferris making a very strong return to the class with two seconds and a first. Kate O'Brien is lying third with Sara Winther in fourth. Winther, the current National Champion has had a disappointing regatta with a `Retired after finishing` and `Did not finish` spoiling her results.

Craig Monk came ashore early today with a trail of blood down the side of his head. He is finding the height of the Finn boom somewhat lower than an Americas Cup boat, but this was not the cause of his early finish but more a lack of fitness in a few rediscovered muscles. Even with the retirement Monk is still lying second behind Sydney 2000 representative in the Finn class, Clifton Webb.

The Laser fleet is now led by young Plimmerton Boating Club sailor Robbie McMillan who has been showing great form recently. Highly experienced Laser sailors Rohan Lord and Rod Dawson are claiming second and fourth place respectively with Andrew Murdoch separating them in third place in this highly competitive class.

Results in both the Laser and Finn fleet are subject to action by the Jury for the failure of some to complete safety procedures. This matter will be resolved late tonight after other protests have been heard.

Three more races are scheduled for Saturday and two for Sunday which will see the end of the regatta.
