Spainish 470 Ladies take over the lead on home waters

Princess Sofia Trophy - Spainish 470 Ladies take over the lead on home waters
PALMA DE MALLORCA, SPAIN-(8-4-2004) Spanish sailors Natalia Via Dufresne and Sandra Azon take the lead in the overall standings of the 35th HRH Princess Sofia Trophy-Madrid 2012. The Spanish sailors, in third place of the ISAF World Sailing Ranking lists, have finished second today and are first with only 1 point difference from Greek crew Sofia Bekatorou/Emilia Tsoulfa.

Two other Spanish sailors still hold on to their chances of winning in their classes after this fourth day of lack of wind and constant wind shifts. The Europe men has been the only class that has not sailed today. Therreofre, the standings remain the same.

Tornado crew Echavarri /Paz climb up one place to second overall after finishing in 5th place in today's race. Leaders are still US team Lowell/Ogletree.

In the Finn Class, Ben Ainslie has finished third in today's race but still holds on to the top position in the overall standings and also his options to be the Absolute Winner of this year's edition.

The 470 men and Europe women have sailed their first race of the Final series in groups Gold and Silver. Argentinian crew Conte/De la Fuente lead the 470 men standings and US Europe sailor Meg Gaillard has won today's race holding on to the top place of the standings and gaining distance with respect to the leader of the World ranking lists, Norwegian sailor Siren Sundby.

Change in the overall standings of the Yngling class with new leaders Thies/Bes/De Jong from the Netherlands. German crew Müller/Hoesch/Gunnar maintain their top place in the overall standings.

The most active class of the day has been the Laser with four races. Swedish competitor Karl Suneson in still in the lead in close fight with Daniel Birgmark also from Sweden
