Only the top ten sailors of each Olympic class sailed in the Medal Race, which scores double points and cannot be discarded. Therefore, due to the great level of the competitors and the equal points in the standings, there was tension in the air. But the S wind, 12 to 14 knots offered great sailing for competitors, spectators and international media representatives. |

Only classes Star, Finn, 49er and Tornado completed one race and the Yngling fleet sailed two races before the light morning breeze dropped completely. The SW wind of average 5 knots that blew in the bay of Palma complicated today’s races demanding the competitors’ high tactical knowledge to remain in the top positions of the fleet. The Race Committees also faced problems to lay the courses and get races started. |
