ISAF Sailing World Championship - 2003 ISAF WORLDS, summit meeting
CADIZ, SPAIN-(10-2-2003) The visit of the ISAF’s Executive Committee to the cities that will host the 2003 ISAF World Sailing Championships, in order to plan and discuss the work leading up to the event, ended yesterday.

The President, Mr. Paul Henderson, and King Constantine of Greece, the Honorary President of the ISAF, visited the Bay of Cadiz, together with the other committee members: Fernando Bolín, George Andreadis, Nucci Novi, David Kellet, Goran Petersson, Kennet, Ryan and James Schoonmaker, the secretary general, Arve Sundhein, the treasurer, Brian Southcott, as well as Simon Forbes, the technical director, Melanie Foster, the Administrative Director, Jerome Pels, the Events Director, and Luissa Smith, Director of Development and Information.

Friday was devoted to a long work session, during which forty-three points relating to the event were discussed. This was followed by the Committee members visiting the three bases, and their respective marinas, which will host the largest gathering of the Olympic classes this year and which will take place in the Bay of Cadiz (Spain) between the 11th and 25th September.

The visit began in Rota, which will the base for the 470 Class (Men and Women), before moving on to check the installations of Puerto Sherry (El Puerto de Santa María) and ended in the Elcano Sailing Centre (Cadiz), which will be the centre of operations for the Laser Class.

The ISAF President, Mr. Paul Henderson, and the vice president, Fernando Bolín, also attended the press conference held in the headquarters of Cadiz Provincial Council to present the 22nd Toro Andaluz Race, which is the longest-running funboard race, which is held annually in the south of Europe and which is yet again part of the World Cup tour in 2003.

The Toro Andaluz, organised by Tarifa Wind Club, the Mundo Vela Consortium and Deporte Andaluz, will be held between the 11th and 15th April and the prize money will distribute 25,000 euros among the best Freestyle sailors in the world.
