Admiral`s Cup - Growing International entry for Admiral`s Cup |
COWES, UNITED KINGDOM-(19-2-2003) The Royal Ocean Racing Club is delighted at the increasing interest in this year’s Admiral’s Cup and the event is now on track, with a number of high quality entries already registered. Teams have already been announced for teams from Australia (Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club), New Zealand (Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron), and France (UNCL) in addition to three teams from England (Royal Southern Yacht Club, Royal Thames Yacht Club and Royal Ocean Racing Club).
Following discussions with other Clubs, there are now firm plans for two Spanish teams; one from the organisers of the Spanish 2002 Rolex Commodore’s Cup team and one from a northern Spanish Club. It is also probable that there will be a second team from France, and teams from both Greece and Italy look very likely. The RORC is also very hopeful that there will be a team from the Netherlands, the current holders of the Admiral’s Cup in addition to entries from Sweden and the USA.
'We are delighted at the level of interest and the entry list promises highly competitive racing this summer. In addition discussions with potential sponsors are also well advanced', commented Peter Wykeham-Martin, General Manager of the RORC.
