ATHENS, GREECE-(20-8-2003) The countdown is on with the 2004 Olympics now only 360 days away and the world's top sailors are gathered at the sailing venue, the Agios Kosmas Olympic Sailing Centre in the Saronic Gulf, waiting for the first day of racing in the second test event, officially called the Athens 2003 Regatta.
Each competing Country has been allocated one entry per class, presenting the selected sailors with the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the weather and conditions likely for the 2004 Olympic Games, while benchmarking themselves against the world's best.
The New Zealand representatives are:
- Mistral Women - Barbara Kendall
- Mistral Men - Jon Paul Tobin
- Finn - Clifton Webb
- Laser - Robbie McMillan
- 470 Women - Shelley Hesson / Linda Dickson
- 470 Men - Simon Cooke / Peter Nicholas
- Tornado - Aaron McIntosh / Mark Kennedy
- Yngling - Alesha Thorpe / Michelle Vinsen / Karen Lambert
- 49er - Mike Bassett / Ed Smyth
- Europe - Sarah Macky
