UK-(6-1-2004) The 2004 season will see fun, action and enjoyment with the proposed Championships. In 2004 you will be competing for new trophies and honours that will be fought and contested to the highest level.
The 2004 UK Soling Championships will see the following titles awarded:
2004 UK Soling Series Champions
To be awarded to the highest placed team from the series of 2004 UK Soling Championships. You should be looking to gain over 30-pts from your best four results to be in reach of lifting this prestigious title.
2004 UK Soling Ladies Champion
To be awarded to the highest placed team with a mixed crew from the series of 2004 UK Soling Championships.
2004 UK Soling Masters Champion
To be awarded with the new Trophy to the highest placed helm over 50 years of age from the series of 2004 UK Soling Championships.
2004 Youth Trophy
To be awarded to the highest placed person under 25 years of age from the series of 2004 UK Soling Championships.
Classic Cup
This new title will rejuvenate the old boat prize with the trophy awarded to the highest placed boat of 20 years and older at the UK Soling National Championships.
2004 UK Soling Series
It is proposed that the above titles should be awarded from the series, which will encompass the following events:
2004 UK National Championships @ Salcombe
2004 Northwest Championships @ B&FYC
2004 Southern Championships @ Salcombe
2004 Welsh Championships @ Barry Y.C
2004 Scottish Championships @ RFYC, Granton
2004 Inland Championships @ Kielder Water SC
Rules and Scoring
Points will be awarded at each event in reverse order of finishing. It is recommended the cumulative score from the best four out of six results shall count towards the 2004 UK Soling Championship. Ties should be broken using the position at the Nationals and then the next highest position from the series. (See Appendix B Rules)
The 2004 UK National Championships and Inland Championships are the BSA nominated ISA World ranking events with a factor of 1 & 0.8.
PR, Media and Reporting
The latest results and scoring should be published on the UK soling website within 10 Days of each Championship. Each championship in the series should be reported on with photo’s and issued to the following press agencies within 10 Days of the event:

2004 Soling Schemes
Bare Boat
Bare boat, will be an initiative led by the host clubs of each championship; where Soling hulls, masts and spars that are available for use at the host club could be borrowed using your own sails and accessories with an extended insurance policy or with a joint owners agreement. If members are interested, then notify the UK Soling Association who will advertise or forward details to like minded members.
Designated Competitor
Designated Competitor may take the form of two boat owners from two areas of the UK teaming up to compete in the series of Championships. During the series, two boats maybe used but a team must be entered by a designated competitor who sails in the each championship to qualify for the Championship Series. This could allow members to travel the UK without the long drag with a Soling behind the car and solve any crew shortages. If members are interested, then notify the UK Soling Association who will advertise or forward details to like minded members.
2004 Soling Class Aims
The BSA’s Soling UK Series aims to achieve the following:
Recognise and reward more Champions in 2004
Increase the level of entries at each event
Increase the competitiveness and enjoyment of Soling racing
Improve the reputation, image and media coverage of the Championships and the Soling Class.
