| SOLING HQ-(19-4-2004) While in Europe the Northwest Championship held in Blackpool, UK was being in course the Spring Bowl continued the activity in US, East cost and the Autumm Championship with light breeze and excellent sunny days were held in Buenos Aires.
Surviving nowadays economy difficulties, Soling sailors are populating their own fleets and travelling only to the best and top major events.
Autumm Championship - Buenos Aires, ARG
The first race were held with a light breeze where the sailors had changed the lead during all race with a 70 degrees wind shift away and back again. Team Pasta Achuita (Busch/Noceti/Furtado) had the best performance managing to stay at the top followed by Popotamus Team(Bisbal, Flugel, Duende).
The second race with a little more wind stablished from land had also the Pasta Achuita Team as winner in a great Job, followed by the US team Collins / Trench / Gibelli who managed to bring the 1969' boat to the top three places in a regatta for the first time.
The third and forth race were also held in a ligh wind condition on Sunday and Pasta Achuita Team kept the performance in the first race of the day and the second race two shifts of 60 degrees made the race a lotery and the only team to kept a constant were team NextWindows (Notebohm/Tumulty/Ayerza) who manage to stay at the top the whole regatta, followed by Team Popotamus and then again by US boat (Collins/Trench/Gibelli) who were at the back of the fleet and in one of the shifts manage to round the last windward mark first, loosing the positions then at the upwind leg.
Final Standings:
1st. Team Pasta Achuita - Busch / Noceti / Furtado -
2nd. Team Popotamus - Bisbal / Flugel / Duende
3rd. Team Nextwindows - Notebohm / Tumulty / Ayerza
4th. Team Curupi - Gozzi Valdez / Naveira / Lasheras Bunge

Spring Bowl - Annapolis, USA
Thirteen boats the best turnout and the tightest competition in years - but the flukiest winds (70' air and 48' water and little of the sea breeze getting to the surface). Peter Gleitz (who said he'd been `sandbagging all winter`) took off with a 2nd, and two 1sts on Saturday (with Stu Walker 3-2-2 and Tom Davies 1-4-9 the major competition). But when Peter Galloway slid in on port jibe under Stu and Tom dueling for the lead down the final run in the first race of Sunday - it was a three way tie for second - Tom 1-4-2, Peter Galloway, 3-3-1, and Stu 3-2-2 - and Peter Gleitz still in control with his 2-1-1 from Friday. In the finale Stu led around the weather mark, but died to the left as he came in out of the strong offshore current and those who stayed out rocketed away in what little wind persisted. Peter Gleitz saved his victory by coming up to 3rd behind Peter Galloway and Tom (Stu fifth).

Three of the top four boats were using Halsey-Italia mains and Peter Gleitz credits his new found speed to his Halsey main and 2 washers under the front edge of his mast - to fix the front edge and give more rake.
