FOLLONICA, ITALY-(18-5-2005) While first overseas teams are arriving rain is the first welcome at the Soling Worlds. This year with a record fleet since 1998 and one that still has a chance to increase in the last days.
The first overseas team to step in Italy were USA 842 Stuart Waker and his wife Frances towing his Boat Duende, but they didn´t arrive to Castiglione already, Pobably in some touristic spot writing another of his special books.
ARG 34 Martin Busch / Pablo Noceti / Maximo Feldtamn arrived to the CVCP late monday and were welcome by the famous local sailor and Italian Soling Champion Domenico Carducci ITA 254. Slovenian team arrived this morning under a lightining storm while part of another USA team and secretary of the ISA arrived late tuesday from Lake Balaton after a nice event at the Mercedes Gran Prix.
The Solng Worlds that will start next May 20th may come up with a fourth South American crew, from Argentina skipered by William Heinonen, arrangements are being made to make the boat ready for the event.
Half of the German fleet is expected to arrive wednesday leaded by Herbert Balzer GER 14 one of the persons who first say CVCP a potential organizer of Soling events. Duch & Nordic Sailors are on their way, probably already in the Bavaria area.
Forecast says that weather will better next week while event is undergoing, but no matter wat happens the sea smell and breeze is already beng felt by local population specially Castiglione sailors who have been preparing the event carefully in the past year.
