Soling European Championship - Surprising third day of racing at the Soling Europeans |
MEDEMBLIK, THE NETHERLANDS-(9-8-2005) With winds of around 14 knots and some sunshine, racing on the IJsselmeer today was good. There where some gusts of around 20 knots which made rounding marks tricky.
The Norwegian team of Usterud, Ottestad and Goldeng (NOR 133) won the first race by a landslide only to see them start to early in the second race. They had to go back and queue up had to do a 270 and still come in third!. The team’s remark about this amazing result was : and we thought this was our worst race!
Koch, Koch and Bornemann (GER 300) and Wossala, Vezer and Nemeth (HUN 77) who where fighting for second place in de first race did not see a lot of each other in the third race. Koch came in first and the Hungarians ended up in the 7th position.
The Dutch team of Den Outer, Determann and Den Arend (NED33) had some spinnaker problems but still ended up in third position.
