MEDEMBLIK, THE NETHERLANDS-(8-8-2005) De first race is done, Roman Koch, Maxl Koch, Gregor Bornemann (GER 300), currently holder of the world championship title was first, closely followed by Georgy Wossola, Peter Nemeth, Karoly Vezer (HUN 77). The Norwegian Dag Usterud (NOR 133), Arne Ottestad, Eskil Golden came in third and two of the Dutch boats followed him (NED 25 - Johan Offermans, Hans Zijlstra, Bas Dusee and NED33 - Rudy den Outer, Leo Determan, Ronald den Arend).
Winds were favourable with a steady 14 knots. No rain and some sunshine made that the competitors enjoyed the race on the IJsselmeer.
Koch said that sailing on the IJsselmeer is difficult with the choppy waters, but that’s also what makes it interesting. Most of all he says; racing here on the IJsselmeer is very exciting!. Whether the race was exciting for him that |
