Joico Regatta - Steve Ellis on Buon Giorno leads the Farr 40`s
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA-(1-3-2003) Current leader of the Farr 40 Australian Circuit Steve Ellis on Buon Giorno (RPAYC) sailed to a lead with 6 points after two third places in today's racing at the Joico Regatta being held at RPAYC. Racing in an east / sou' east breeze of 8-12 knots the fleet sailed on the Palm Beach circle off Barrenjoey Point. There were two races conducted today with another two planned for Sunday.
Dick Vooderhake on Syntegra Rapscallion (CYCA) is placed second with a fifth and second finishes and John Calvert Jones on Southern Star 2 (RPAYC) is third on 8 points. Current Australian Champion Richard Perini on Corinthian Doors (RSYS) had a eighth place in the first race but finished first ion the second race and is placed fifth overall.
Queensland entry Kevin Millar on Valley Tram (RQYS) had a late start in the first race but came back to finish fifth in the second race in a very competitive fleet. Ray Roberts was steering Emotional Hooligan for Marcus Blackmore and took the gun from Lang Walker in the first race.
The fleet of 11 boats are using this regatta as a warm up to the Australian National Championships being held March 7-9 at RPAYC. This regatta will count towards the Class Australian Circuit point score that will be finished with the National results and the winner of the circuit will be announced at the Nationals event.
