Rosemount Farr 40 Australian National Championships - Marcus Blackmore on Emotional Hooligan takes the lead on Day 1 |
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA-(7-3-2003) Racing on Day 1 saw very shifty conditions challenge all 13 boats competing in the Rosemount Australian National Championships. The breeze ranged from 5-12 knots and swung east / nor' east during the 3 races held on the Palm Beach circle. These conditions caused the fleet to split on many legs and regroup at the marks with mark rounding's being tight. Close racing is the norm in one design and this was evident in this fleet with the fleet finishing within minutes of each other.
Race one saw the leader being swapped many times with current Australian Champion Richard Perini on Corinthian Doors winning from Dick Voorderhake on Syntegra Rapscallion. Marcus Blackmore on Emotional Hooligan won the next race with Lang Walker on Kokomo taking the gun in the third race of the day.
Marcus Blackmore leads the regatta by 1 point with a 6th, 1st and 2nd giving him 9 points with Richard Perini on Corinthian Doors in second on 10 points and Lang Walker on Kokomo on 13 points. Racing continues tomorrow and will finish on Sunday.
