Current Australian Farr 40 Champion takes lead after day 2 of racing

Rosemount Australian Farr 40 Championship - Current Australian Farr 40 Champion takes lead after day 2 of racing
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA-(8-3-2003) Richard Perini on Corinthian Doors fought back to take the lead by 1 point after finishing with 2 1st's and a 2nd in the three races held today.  Marcus Blackmore on Emotional Hooligan had a 1st and 2nd with a third place in race three, which dropped him back to second position in the point score and a 3rd, 5th and 4th was enough to keep Lang Walker on Kokomo in third position.

Racing was postponed for 30 mins with the breeze starting to fill in from the Nor' east at 8 knots building to 14 knots later in the afternoon.  Racing was tight around the course with the fleet splitting evenly on most legs and with a gate put in at the bottom mark this added to the excitement of the rounding's after the down wind legs.  Spinnaker drops and crew work meant everything in gaining advantages at this point in each race.

In the last race of the day there was a collision at the bottom mark after the first run between Southern Star 2 and Buon Giorno.  Southern Star 2 did the required 720º penalty turn after completing the mark rounding with Buon Giorno sustaining some damaged to the starboard aft quarter.

Sunday will see the final day of racing with the winners of the Australian National Champion and Australian Farr 40 Circuit winners being announced.  Current leader of the circuit point score Steve Ellis is currently 6th in the Australian Championships.
