Steve Ellis - two out of two at the Farr 40 Alfa Romeo Twilights

Alfa Romeo Farr 40 Twilight Regatta  - Steve Ellis - two out of two at the Farr 40 Alfa Romeo Twilights
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA-(24-2-2004) Overnight leader in the Alfa Romeo Farr 40 Twilight series Steve Ellis's Buon Giorno took the gun for the second night in a row. Limited visibility due to sheets of rain and a fluky Sou ' east breeze of 6-16 knots had the fleet sailing across the harbour into Double Bay. Ellis crossed the line three seconds ahead of Matt Allen steering Kokomo in second with Steve O'Rourke taking third after leading the fleet around the track for the entire race.

O'Rourke had the pin end of the start line and jumped into the lead. He rounded the last mark and took the left side of the track, which put him under Bradley's Head with Kokomo and Buon Giorno inside him. Both boats maintained better boat speed on their angle and they managed to cross the line in front.

Tony Walls steering Acuity had a great start at the boat end and sailed well to maintain his mid fleet position.

A number of crews are using the Alfa Romeo series for crew training in preparation for the final two Farr 40 Australian regattas coming up over the first two weekends in March. Current circuit point score leader Marcus Blackmore will be hoping to make it four in a row and keep his National Farr 40 Champion title for another year.

Day three of racing in the Alfa Romeo Twilights will continue tomorrow evening with the last race of the series on Thursday night.
