GRIMSTAD, NORWAY-(2-8-2002) Martinez and Fernandez continue to show championship form Iker Martinez/Xabi Fernandez won the MasterCard European Championship for 49ers that finished in Grimstad today and fought of a strong challenge from british Chris Draper/Somin Hiscock who won both todays races in strong NE wind, showing more than 25 knots in the gusts.

Yesterdays leaders Christoffer Sundby/Frode Bovim had big problems in difficult conditions, but with a 24 and 8 position still managed to take the their first podium position in a major championship. With seven countries taking the first ten spots in the championship one cannot say that any country is dominating this highly competitive class.
