| LAREDO, SPAIN-(15-7-2003) Difficult conditions meant a difficult start at the 49er and 29er Europeans. After the first day barely half the fleet could complete any qualification races, and racing was cancelled at 17:00 for the 49ers and 17:45 for the 29ers.
Only the yellow and blue group in the 49er fleet completed two races today, with the American pair of Andy MACK and Adam Lowry taking the first race and Tom FITZPATRICK and Frazer BROWN taking Race 2. In the blue group Pawel KACPROWSKI Pawel KUZMICKI (POL) took both races.
In the green group, the Danish pair of Peter and Soren HANSEN won the only race of the day. As a result, the overall rankings for yesterday are unable to be posted.
The 29er class, divided in two groups, sailed three races in total: 2 races sailed by the yellow group and just one race by the blue group. Poor visibility and a drop in wind strength caused racing on the first day yesterday to be cancelled.
