49er and 29er European Championship - Late afternoon races abandoned due to big storm |
LAREDO, SPAIN-(15-7-2003) All groups sailed two races with North easterly, 6- 12 knots of breeze, enabling some results to be posted and some leaders to emerge. At 4 o’clock the blue 49er and 29er groups saw their races abandoned due to a big storm and all boats returned ashore.
No more racing was fisished yesterday and the qualification series will complete today for the yellow, red and green groups and blue groups are in stand-by to complete one race in the 49er.
With only 4 races sailed in the 29er, the class will still be sailing a qualifying series tomorrow and will hopefully reach the total of 6 races necessary to sail a final series on the last day of the event, Thursday 17.
Counting the two races sailed by all groups, the provisional leaders in 49er are Polish team, P. KACPROWSKI and P. KUZMICKI while the 29er class provisional standings are led by British sailors T. JACQUES and A. SIGN.
