MUMBAI, INDIA-(28-12-203) Gregory Thean Yeuw from Singapore won the practice race of the 2003 Dockendale IODA Asian Championship in commanding fashion while his team mates swept home right behind him in positions 2, 5, 6 and 7. This ensured that the entire Singapore Team finished in the top 10 out of a total fleet of 58 boats racing. Singapore have now made a powerful statement to their opposition who will need to sail hard and well to shake the psychological boost the Singapore Team has achieved with this commanding performance.
Defending Champion Alvin Yeow from Malaysia, came home in a creditable 4th position with huichao Chen of China finishing 3rd. India put up a strong showing in this practice race with Abhishek Mhatre and Viraf heerjee finishing 8th and 10th respectively giving the hosts 2 places in the top 10.
Japan’s Misa Higuchi, who backed herself to win this event even before it started completed the top 10, coming in 9th.
