2002 Mistral World Championship - Good breeze filled in from the north after a short postponement at Mistral Worlds |
PATTAYA, THAILAND-(12-12-2002) Alessandra Sensini (ITA) won the only women's race of the day with Barbara Kendall (NZL) 2nd . Meanwhile the chasing pack swallowed Anja Kaser (SUI) who had an unhappy 25th place and now lies 8th. Overall it looks like that the world championship title is there for Barbara to claim, leading as she does by 12 points. Her wealth of experience will no doubt be put to good use in racing conservatively within the top group. Only a supremely inspired charge leading to a string of bullets could unseat her. Could Alessandra do it?
Today's two races in the men's fleet reconfirmed that the title fight is between Nikos Kaklamanakis (GRE) and Gal Fridman (ISR). Both have dropped a poor result but looking back down the list so have the rest of the top 10. As always, consistent top 5 finishes will secure the top spot. Gal looks inspired and ready for his first world title. Nikos is in the top slot tonight but today's winner is Julien Bontemps (FRA) who finished 1st and 2nd to jump to 4th overall one point behind Ricardo Santos (BRA).
Two races per day are planned for the final 3 days.
