Australian Laser Championships - Brendan Casey Leads 2003 Australian Championships
LARGS BAY, SA, AUSTRALIA-(31-12-2002) Brendan Casey has won his first 2 heats in the 2003 Australian Championships after racing was delayed by 3 hours due to strong winds. In a 12 - 17 Knot North Westerly Breeze Brendan showed form by leading the way in both his races.
Ben Lamb was in 2nd place and is currently appealing a protest decision. Roope Suomalainen from Finland has also won a heat and had a 4th and is currently in 3rd position. Michael Blackburn is currently in 4th and Andreas Geritzer from Austria is currently in 5th.
Last years Laser Radial National Champion Jake Bartrom from New Zealand currently leads the field with a 1st and a 2nd. Richard Howard from NSW who finished 2nd last year is placed in 2nd. Adam Beattie from QLD is currently placed 3rd. Allison Casey is leading the Womens Division in currently placed 6th overall.
With a good fleet of 4.7s competing Paul Brinkley from Qld is currently leading from Jacqueline Van Soest from Qld in 2nd. Nicholas Scali is currently in 3rd place.
Todays racing has been delayed again due to strong winds currently between 25 - 40 knots.
