| WARNEMUENDE, GERMANY-(18-7-2004) Today 115 Youth and 101 Senior sailors started the first 2 races of the 2004 Laser European Championships. The weather forecast predicted veering winds with changing windspeeds between 11 and 17 knots from a westerly direction.
Indeed that was what the sailors got in both races. Almost all starts saw a favouring pin end and also a lot of black flag disqualifications in both fleets.
Despite the choppy waves, the todays leaders sailed consistantly, with Senior Michael Blackburn (AUS) and Youth Alex Muscat (ESP) ending this day leading the two fleets.
