| CARTAGENA, SPAIN-(4-8-2005) The list of sailors of the European Laser Championship which will be held at the Cartagena bay from August 4th to August 12th, 2005 is ready. A total of 240 participants, 133 of Laser Standard and 112 Junior, coming from 42 different countries and the 5 continents, will fight for the European title. This Championship classifies the Olympic teams of each country.
The level of the participants will be very high as the Championship classifies for China 2008 and the main World athletes will be present like the actual gold medal at Athens, the brasilian sailor Robert Schedit, who also won the Laser silver medal at Sidney 2000, and is the second at the ISAF ranking list with 4.785 points right after the british Paul Goodison with 4.897 points.
Spain will bring the best team for the class and one of their objectives is being at the top positions and even get a medal.
Besides the Spanish team there are already have 5 countries training at the bay, Estonia, UK, Finland and Italy.
Next August the 4th the European Laser Championship starts with the registration of the participants. On august the 5th the official measurement of the boats will be held and the 6th of August there will be optional race training. The first race of the Championship will take place on August the 7th.
