Van Uden Reco Grevelingen Regatta - Grevelingen Cup winter serie final ends up with a lack of wind
PORT ZÉLANDE, NETHERLANDS-(26-4-2004) Last weekend, the Dutch Van Uden Reco Grevelingen Regatta took place on the Grevelingen Lake off Port Zélande. More than 100 entries were received to participate in the classes IMS, ORC, Cruising Yachts, MaxFun, 11 Metre and Javelin.
A lot of yachts participated as final preparation for the annual North Sea Regatta, known as the biggest IMS/ORC regatta in the Netherlands. The event also completes the Grevelingen Cup winter series.
Races were postponed on Saturday morning due to a lack of wind. A little wind of approx. 2Bft. came up in the early afternoon, enough to have three starts for the IMS classes, and two for the rest of participating classes.
Unfortunately, Sunday morning wasn’t much different of the day before. A light easterly allowed a start, however wind left the race course during the race. The upcoming sea breeze in the late afternoon came too late to resume any race procedures. This caused that the half way results of Saturday became the final ones.
