| MARTHA`S VINEYARD, MA-(24-9-2002) The 57 boat fleet of the Exact Software 2002 Tornado World Championship did
not complete any races on the first day of racing.
After a few thunderstorms in the morning, the fleet headed out to the race
course at noon. It was met with 6 up to 10 knots of wind, but it was already
diminishing.
Nevertheless, after two general recalls the fleet crossed the starting line
and the Exact Software 2002 Tornado World Championship had started! EDS
Sailing Team
rounded the first mark in 23rd position, the second mark in 10th and finally
it moved up to the second position at the fifth mark. Mitch and Herbert had
closed the cap
and were heading up to the first position as the race was cancelled, due to
lack of wind. The wind had decreased to 1-2 knots!
Herbert: `Unfortunately there are no results yet, but we are satisfied with
our performance in the first race of the Tornado Worlds. We moved up from a
28th position
to a second place. It is raining at the moment, but I think we will start
today. Hopefully with increasing wind!
